FYS America's National Parks: Books and More

Resources for the research project in Dr. Harris's FYS GEO01 first year seminar.

Book Search

The National Parks are a diverse interdisciplinary research topic that might include sources from geography, geology, history, political science, ecology, and social sciences. While you're more likely to use articles or government documents in your research, books are still useful when looking at big-picture issues, background information, history, or trends!

In order to find books on any desired topic, use the SURF search box below. This is the same search box on our library homepage. You not only have access to our roughly 300,000 books here at SU, but you can also request books from the other University of Maryland System schools and have them delivered here for free.

You can also use SURF to find other types of sources like government documents, journal articles, and images.

Where is my book?

If you find a physical book, it will have something called a call number. The call number is like its home address. Copy and paste any call number into the Call Number Locator below to see where it lives in the library.

A call number will look something like this:

SF408.3 .E84 1995

What if SU doesn't have the resource I need?
