While this handbook, prepared by the Institute of Social and Economic Research at the University of Alaska Anchorage is specific to Alaskan villages, there is a lot in this handbook that may provide a template for the sort of the information that needs to be gathered.

The publication that exists today encompasses Maine Coast Fishermen, first published in 1946 and combined in 1960 with a New Hampshire publication bearing the current name: National Fisherman. In 1966, the magazine absorbed Pacific Fisherman as well. Today, their quarterly supplements North Pacific Focus and Pilothouse Guide encompass Alaska Fisherman's Journal. National Fisherman magazine also produces the official media guide of the Pacific Marine Expo, which they host annually in Seattle.
