The Chicago style of citation are used in both the humanities and social sciences. While it is the preferred style in art and art historical research, always check with your instructor to determine which citation style you should use during your research.

Chicago Style citations: Notes-Bibliography
Book: Last name, First name. Title of Book. Place of publication: Publisher, year of publication.
Example: Smith, Zadie. Swing Time. New York: Penguin Press, 2016.
Article: Last name, First name. "Title of Article." Title of Journal volume number, issue number (publication date): page range.
Example: Satterfield, Susan. "Livy and the Pax Dream." Classical Philology 111, no. 2 (April 2016): 165-76.
