City-Data.com gives city-specific information about median income, racial demographics, local businesses, etc. for each city that it covers. It also provides very useful links to local newspapers with up-to-date news headlines about what is going on in each city. This will be very useful for getting cultural/historical information on your city that could be used when picking a name / designing a logo!
There is more information about cities out there than you can imagine - and PolicyMap is a good way to find some of that information. You can use the filters they have in the map to look at 'layers' of things like demographic info, housing, quality of life (including things like public transportation, farmer's markets in the area, quality of broadband internet access, etc.) and turn them on and off as needed.
