First Year Seminar (FYS) Library Support

Faculty librarians have developed an FYS Information Literacy Tutorial containing 6 interactive modules, a scavenger hunt, and Information Literacy Certificate Quiz for to assign to students to meet IL outcomes. These can be used whole cloth or as needed. Some examples are:

• as a primer preceding a research-oriented assignment
• assigned as a stand-alone activities
• as required throughout the semester depending on what skills are required for an assignment

We recommend asking students to complete the scavenger hunt during the initial weeks of the semester so that students are familiar with the GAC and it's services.

When students complete the tutorial’s final quiz, they are awarded a personalized, date and time-stamped certificate that they can submit to the course instructor.
