Assignment Overview:
This assignment assesses students’ ability to critically think and evaluate empirical research pertinent to the discipline of health. Critical thinking is an ideal way of thinking using intellectual thinking to conceptualize and synthesize information.
Students will research and select THREE articles that use one of the theories/models we have covered in class. Students must use a reputable journal for a peer reviewed. Some examples may be: Journal of School Health, Journal of American College Health, Health Education and Behavior, Health Promotion Practice, American Journal of Health Education, American Journal of Public Health, and Eta Sigma Gamma’s Health Educator and Monograph Series. For each article, students will turn in a copy of the article (5 pts) and a 1-2-page appraisal sheet (15 pts) of how that article used the respective theory/model. Students will complete this in class. APA format required!

You work at a non-profit organization and your supervisor recently discovered that you have experience writing grants. This is exciting news because the budget has been cut in other areas of your organization, and they are in need of unrestricted funds to address some of the health and environmental issues that influence your community. Your supervisor found a Request for Applications (RFA) through the S. A. Maykrantz Foundation. The title of the proposal is Improving Health Through Innovative Social and Behavioral Interventions. You are given the Request for Applications (RFA) and agree to submit a strong grant proposal on behalf of your organization.
