HIST 211: The Environment in History

Made possible, in part, by a grant from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, this unique collection includes digitized regional newspapers from 1745 through 1922 and represents the Nabb Center's commitment to preserving, providing access to, and facilitating research on these original resources.

The Holly Leaf was the official campus newspaper at Salisbury University from 1926 to 1970. Published monthly, the Holly Leaf printed articles that covered campus events, student life, and opinions throughout the period of time when the school was known as Maryland State Normal School (1925-1935), Maryland State Teachers College (1935-1963), and lastly Salisbury State College (1963-1988).

The S.S.C. Informer was the official campus newspaper at Salisbury University from 1971 to 1973. Published monthly, the S.S.C. Informer printed articles that covered campus events, student life, and opinions throughout the period of time when the school was known as Salisbury State College (1963-1988).

The Somerset County Library System has a microfilm collection of local newspapers dating back to 1827. In order to make these records accessible and searchable for teachers, students, researchers, and people living outside our County, the microfilm has been digitized to create an easy to use archive. The Somerset County Library System was awarded a Library Services and Technology Act grant with funding by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, through the Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Library and Development Services (DLDS).
