What is Grounded Theory?

According to Lapan, Grounded Theory is: "The methods of description and analysis developed from philosophical phenomenology applied to the subjective experience of phenomena and to consciousness, esp. in the fields of gestalt psychology, existential analysis, and psychiatry."
