Banned Books Week (September 18-23) is a yearly event which spotlights historical and current attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. Our Banned Book Week Event calls attention to current efforts to censor books, the impact such efforts have, and underscores the importance of the freedom to read. Please join us virtually or in-person.
Event Location:
IN-PERSON: The Dr. Ernie Bond Curriculum Center (CRC) is located on the second floor of Conway Hall, Room 226, closest to the Tower Entrance. Conway Hall is located at the corner of S. Salisbury Blvd (BUS RT-13) and West College Ave.
Parking: Visitors MUST register for a Visitor Parking Permit. The pass may be obtained free of charge online through the Parking Portal.
Building Access: All campus buildings are locked. Visitors will be escorted into buildings by event personnel.
VIRTUAL: Once you register, you'll get a Zoom link.

Jamie Watson has been Collection Development Manager at Baltimore County Public Library since 2010, and has also worked at Harford County Public Library, Enoch Pratt free Library, and Columbus (OH) Metropolitan Library. She has served on a variety of ALA Committees, including many that focus on Children’s and Teen books, such as the Michael L. Printz award (2011), and the Newbery Medal (2017). Most recently she served on a team that was named a YALSA Volunteer of the year to name the Outstanding Books for the College bound, a list that has, for example, both Gender Queer and All Boys aren’t Blue on it. Originally from Ohio, she now lives in Southeast Baltimore with her husband and cats.
