SOWK 305/605 Social Welfare Policy: Find Books

From the Find Books, Articles, and More page, click on Find Books and eBooks

We have electonic books (e-books) from different vendors. These full-text electronic books are available through the library catalog.

Follow the instructions for downloading an eBook. Remember, you have to create an account in EBSCOHost as well as in Adobe. Check out the help section.

Note that we do have Encyclopedia of Social Work as an eBook but it doesn't contain biographies. The print version (c. 2008) is kept in Curriculum Resources Center (CRC) library in TETC.

Intercampus Borrowing

After checking the library catalog if you find out that we don't have the book that you are looking for, we can still get it from one of the other USMAI libraries.

Here's a handout explaining how you would request a book directly from the library catalog. Remember you need to choose USM Hagerstown as your pick-up location.

If it is a book that Library has in Salisbury, you'll need to request it through ILLiad! We will send the book to the library at Hagerstown and you go there to pick it up.

Check out this webpage for more info.

Here's a brief tutorial explaining Direct Borrowing.

** If all this sounds confusing, please contact me or Amy Jones (,our ILL Borrowing staff and we will walk you through it.

Interlibrary Loan Borrowing

In case you cannot find a book from one of the USMAI libraries, no worries. We can get it from libraries outside the University of Maryland system. You will need to request it through ILLiad.

Here's a handout that explains ILLiad and Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

Here's also a brief tutorial that explains the process.

If you are a distance student, make sure to note that in the ILLiad form. If you have any questions while filling out the form, feel free to contact me or one of the library staff members. You can also contact the ILL department directly if you have questions about your ILL request at
