MUSC 114: Connecting Through Music (Schreibman): Find Books

This guide was created to support student research for the final assignment in Professor Schreibman's classes.

Using Books in Research

Remember that you may be better served with books by thinking of the broader context! You can cover a lot more in a 150 page book than in a 7 page article--so what you need from a book may be only one small part of it.

Look at the table of contents and index to help you determine if what you want is present in a book. If you can't find anything immediately on your topic, think about the broader context your specific topic might fall into and start your search from there.

Use SURF to Find Books and Ebooks

This SURF search box is the same as the one you can find on the Library Homepage but will limit your search to only books. Just type in the title, author, or keywords directly into the box for a quick search. This will take you to the library catalog results for what you searched, which you can filter and refine to best fit your search needs.

Physical books will have their call number listed and you can use the Call Number Locator Map to find where physical books are in the library! eBooks should have links directly to how you can access them in their entries.
