Using keywords to search SURF for books

Begin your search in the embedded SURF box below using one or two keywords from our example topic. If there are few articles, replace keywords with synonyms to increase results. Narrow results by incorporating additional keywords from your list.

Keywords: recycling, college campus, programs

  1. Search keyword: recycling

  2. Add "college campus" and notice your results are fewer yet more specific.

  3. Select the Books icon to limit results to Books.

  4. If you get few results, consult synonyms. For example, use "sustainability" instead of recycling.

  5. Open a book record by clicking on the title link.

  6. Review the book's Table of Contents, Location, Status, and Call Number.

  7. Use the Call Number Locator tool to find the book's location.

  8. Explore SURF's Citation Generator & Permalink tools.
