The CRL is itself a research library whose members are libraries, not individuals. Our library consortium, the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI), joined the CRL in 2021. What this means for you (SU faculty, staff, and students) is that you have access to many more resources at no extra cost to you (or the SU Libraries, mercifully!) either online or through Inter-Library Loan for microfilms and print material, depending on the format available.
The CRL's holdings include materials from all over the world, including:
CRL resources appear in search results using the search box on the SU Libraries home page. You should be able to access anything that is available digitally from CRL through computers on campus at SU and through your proxy login from off campus. Also, keep in mind that you may request non-electronic materials through your SU Libraries Inter-Library Loan account.
You can request an individual consultation with CRL staff. In addition, the CRL has an extensive list of topic guides available for its collections.
The CRL also will do on-demand digitization fulfilling requests from researchers and scholars and will acquire three types of materials on request for researchers: foreign dissertations, newspapers, and copies of archival records.
Digitization: For many items in its collections, CRL will, in response to an Inter-Library Loan request, digitize the item. See Digital Delivery for details.
Request a purchase: Do you need certain archival materials, newspapers, or international doctoral dissertations? CRL will consider purchasing materials not available from member libraries, up to $2,000 per patron per year. This must be done through our Inter-Library Loan Office. For details about the program, see Demand Purchase Program.
Inter-Library Loan: You can log into your Inter-Library Loan account here. If you don't already have an account, you will be prompted to create one.
