Introduction to SU Libraries: Graduate Student Boot Camp

Databases

Through SU Libraries, you have access to 170+ databases in various academic disciplines. Specific databases can be searched for on the Libraries' homepage, under the "Databases" tab on the main search box. You can also browse the list of databases using the A-Z Databases link, also on that same tab (link provided).

While the databases tend to have varying interfaces, they all function the same way (mostly). If you're unfamiliar searching within databases, take the time to review "Detailed Article How-To" (link provided) on the "How to Do Library Research" LibGuide," included in this LibGuide under the "Library Research Basics" tab.

Search using GoogleScholar

GoogleScholar can be a very helpful tool when conducting research, and it is most effective when linked to your SU Libraries account.

Not sure how to do that? Follow the steps below:

  1. Begin from the GoogleScholar homepage (link provided).
  2. In the upper left corner of the screen, click on the menu, marked using 3 horizontal lines, and click "Settings."
  3. Once you're within Settings, click on the link for "Library Links."
  4. On the Library Links page, search for "Salisbury University" within the search bar.
  5. Select both options for "Salisbury University Libraries" and click on "Save" to save your changes.
    • As noted on the GoogleScholar site, online access to library subscriptions is usually restricted to patrons of that library. When accessing GoogleScholar from off-campus, you'll be prompted to log in using your Salisbury University credentials. If you experience any difficulty with this, please contact SU Libraries; contact information can be found on this guide.
