Why use Interlibrary Loan?

To request items that the SU Libraries do not own, use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service
ILL is a free service available to current SU students, faculty, and staff.

How to use Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Request an item 

From your ILL account:

  1. Log in to your ILL account

  2. Under New Request, select the item type (Article, Book, Book chapter).

  3. Enter the required information.  Fill out as many sections as possible.  Click Submit Request.

From the Libraries homepage:

  1. Search for an item, then click the item title.

  2. Under Check Availability, click on FIND IT and then on Request it from ILL.

  3. Enter the required information.  Fill out as many sections as possible. Click Submit.

Receive and return items

  Articles:

  1. Wait to receive an email notification. 

  2. Log in to your ILL account.  Click View to see PDFs of your requested article.

  3. Articles are automatically deleted from your ILL account after 30 days. Print or upload the article to your computer if you need it longer.


  Books:

  1. Wait to receive an email notification. 

  2. Pick up books at the service desk of the SU Libraries in Guerrieri Academic Commons. 

  3. Return your books at the service desk by the due date to avoid late fees.
