GEOL 405: Environmental Geology: National Parks

About

Western artist George Catlin (while considered controversial for his portrayal of American Indians) is nonetheless frequently credited for having initiated the formalized idea of "National Parks" as they exist today.  In turn, our protected National Park lands have enabled a great many scientific discoveries - but they have also inspired countless artistic masterpieces, such as fictional and non-fictional literature, music, paintings, poetry, and photography.

This course will provide you with the opportunity to virtually explore our many National Parks, and to examine up close their ability to play the muse to collective artists of today and yesterday, and to experience for yourself how they can inspire creativity and flights of imagination amongst us all.
