Costa Rica Population Density

Map of population density in Costa Rica, from CostaRica.org 2018. The area around capital city San Jose is the most densely populated with 1000+ people per square kilometer, including nearby cities Alajuela, Heredia, and Cartago. Areas to the west and north of San Jose have a population density of 251-1000, as do the cities of Limón on the Caribbean Sea and Liberia near the west coast Pacific Ocean. Most of the middle part of the country is moderately densely populated ranging from 26-250 people per square kilometer.
