BIOL 215/216: Introduction

Human Anatomy & Physiology: Comprehensive study of the structure and function of the human organism, including but not limited to the integumentary, skeletal, muscle, nervous and endocrine systems.

Biology 215 & Biology 216 (Anatomy & Physiology I and Anatomy & Physiology II) are two classes taught at Salisbury University that traditionally can have a high failure and/or withdrawal rate.  In an attempt to better support the students in BIOL 215/216 and lower this potential failure/withdrawal rate, SU Libraries has partnered with the Center for Student Achievement (CSA) and the Department of Biological Sciences to create a unique three-pronged support group.  
 
In this guide, you will find a variety of resources pulled together from various places designed to help you better understand the various biological systems that are being taught in BIOL 215/216, as well as opportunities to quiz yourself on these systems.  These resources include but are not limited to:
 
  • 3D or 2D models of the body system in question
  • Interactive programs covering the systems of the body
  • Lectures from an (external) online educational platform on the various systems within the body
  • Online self-quizzes on components and parts found within the body
 
You will also find within this guide information from any Supplemental Instruction Leaders (SILs) who are working with any of the BIOL 215/216 sections - their session notes, any tips or tricks they have for understanding a particular piece of material, etc.    
 
As well, we have provided a list of print resources/books located within the Center for Student Achievement that the SILs have designated as being of particular import to them for reviewing the class material with the students - materials that we have an additional copy on reserve at the SU Libraries Help Desk for student use when the CSA is not otherwise open.
