COMM 297 Egan: How to submit to SOAR@SU

Supported formats

SOAR@SU operates on the DSpace software platform.

DSpace  supports a large number of file format and mime types, including: 

  • Text - txt, doc, pdf, html, ppt
  • Images - tiff, jpg, jpeg2000, png, pdf
  • Video -  mp4, wav, mov, avi,
  • Audio - m4a, mp3
  • Data - csv, tab

File size

You can upload a file up to 2 GB, using the SOAR@SU submission form.

Self-archiving in SOAR@SU

Step 1: Register an account

  • Go to www.mdsoar.org and click on the login button on the upper right hand side 
  • Select Click here to register
  • Enter your email address
    (you will receive an email from MDSOAR asking you to complete your registration) 
  • Follow the link in the email from MDSOAR to complete your registration

Important note: When the MDSOAR team receives your registration information, it must add you as a submitter to the collection associated with your program. It’s advisable that you use your SU email for registration so that the MDSOAR team can easily identify your affiliation and program. As soon as the MDSOAR team adds you as a submitter (usually within a few hours after your registration), you will be able to submit your work to the SOAR@SU collection designated for your program.

Step 2: Submit an item to SOAR@SU

  • Go to www.mdsoar.org and click on the login button on the upper right hand side 
  • Enter your email address and password to login
  • From the list of institutions, select Salisbury University
  • Select a sub-community (e.g.,  SU Henson School of Science and Technology) and then a collection within that sub-community (e.g., SU Biological Sciences Department)
  • Select submit a new item to this collection
  • Enter the information about your item
  • Upload your file
  • License your item ( e.g., select the license type from the drop-down menu, e.g. a Creative Common license)
  • Submit the SOAR@SU Distribution license, agreeing to grant SOAR@SU a non-exclusive right to reproduce, publicly display, and distribute your item at no cost to users world-wide

Step 3: Receive confirmation

After the SOAR@SU reviews your submission, you will receive a confirmation email that your item has been added to the collection that you selected.

 

Mediated archiving in SOAR@SU

The SOAR@SU team can upload your work on your behalf. 

Step 1: Review and sign the SOAR@SU Distribution License to indicate your consent to its terms.

Step 2: Submit the signed SOAR@SU  Distribution License and a digital copy of your work to Jennifer Martin at jmmartin@salisbury.edu.

Step 3: Receive confirmation.

After the SOAR@SU reviews your submission, you will receive a confirmation email that your item has been added to the collection that you selected.
