MUSC 114: Connecting Through Music (Schreibman)

This guide was created to support student research for the final assignment in Professor Schreibman's classes.

Getting Started

This guide is intended to help you do good research and game design for this semester & is here as a resource for you on key assignments!

Before diving into searches be sure you dedicate time to developing your Topic & Keywords in the first tab to the left. Here you will find tips and exercises that will give you a firm foundation to start research and help prepare you for later research, which makes things easier on yourself.

Once you get started, you can find tips for doing research with Books and Articles in their respective tabs or learn more about board game design and development before you finish things up.

The last tab has contact information for your librarian who is available for research consultations to help with any challenges you face, as well as other resources available online and in the GAC.

Here are reminders from Professor Schreibman as you develop your game and presentation:

  1. Develop a game that explores your assigned topic.
You may want to set several check-points for yourself. If you forget your topic, you can find it on the list of "topics for final project" document link in MyClasses.
  2. Create a game to play in class that covers a minimum of 10 points related to your topic area.
Check out the Board Game Development tab on the left side of this page for resources and tips for all levels of experience!
  3. You will submit your preliminary game idea along with 5 or more sources for your assigned topic (3 need to be peer reviewed sources)
  4. You will submit the directions to your game a few days before sharing in class.
  5. You will be prepared to share your game in class on the schedule assigned by your professor - presentations begin week 4.
  6. There will be a final based on questions presented in the games from your professor.
