Review: Topic to keywords

My example topic was inspired by a couple news articles I came across:

Gender pay gaps at the largest charities have barely improved over four years

Study: Gender Pay Gaps in Nonprofits Are Even Greater When There Is Room for Salary Negotiations

Step 1: Write down your topic statement.

A successful topic statement is usually just one sentence. 

Example: "What factors contribute to gender salary disparities in non-profit organizations?

 

Step 2: Pull out the keywords from your topic statement.

Keywords are the most important ideas found in your topic statement, and these are used when using the library catalog or article databases.
