Secrets of a Charmed Life

Review by Karen S.

= Read & Recommend

I enjoyed reading, "Secretes of a Charmed Life" however I wasn't as impressed with the story as the critics seemed to be. Although, I did enjoy the ending and the basic plot was good. Two half sisters, Emmy and Julia are raised by their mother in London during the German Blitz of WW II. Somehow these two sisters are separated and spend a long time searching for one another. I kept reading it to find out how it would all come together. A very good and realistic plot, but I am not sure about the two girls running away would have worked out, but maybe so. The story has many twists and turns and should keep your interest. The way the two girls deal with the events in their lives makes for a good tale. The writer, like most novelist, gives good emotional insight to both characters.

Susan Meissner shows how people can think wrong things about others due to each person's circumstances. This is how the book is very much true to life.

I enjoyed the tale and I am glad I read it.
