Sometimes, a structured approach to research can help to organize ideas and the way you think about information sources:

5. Drafts & revisions (research librarians & Writing Center)

Research Proposal (3–5 pages) and Annotated Bibliography (6 sources; choose an appropriate citation style)

Prompt: Write a 3- to 5-page formal research proposal structured using the following five section titles: Introduction, Research Questions and Preliminary Findings (Literature Review), Methodology, Significance, Process and Timeline. Each section title should be in boldface and should be followed by one to two paragraphs. In addition to your research proposal, prepare an annotated bibliography of at least six scholarly, peer-reviewed sources. Each annotation should describe the source, summarize its main point(s), and explain how you’ll use it in the space of 50 to 100 words.
