Chromebooks @ SU Libraries: Chromebooks

Note About Printing

Please note that you cannot print from a Chromebook in the library. If you need to print a document while using a library Chromebook, please follow the instructions in this guide for saving a document, then open the saved file on a library PC to print it.

Getting Started

When you first turn on your Chromebook, you will be presented with a screen asking you to connect to Wi-Fi. To connect, choose SU-Secure from the list of available networks.

In the login screen that pops up, enter your SU username in the Identity field, and you SU password in the Password field. Leave all the other fields blank. Make sure the "Save identity and password" box is NOT checked, then click "Connect".

Next, you will be prompted to log in with your Google account.

  • If you have a Google (Gmail) acccount: Log in with that account in order to have access to your email, Chrome bookmarks, Google Drive files, etc. Logging in with your Google account is optional, however. You will still be able to participate in the class whether or not you choose to log in.
  • If you do not have a Google account: Click the "browse as Guest" link in the sidebar on the right.

After signing in or choosing to log in as a Guest, the Chromebook will start up and you will be taken to the browser.

When You're Done

Turn off the Chromebook by holding down the power button in the top right corner of the keyboard for a few seconds, until the screen turns off. DO NOT simply log out or your login information may not be deleted properly!
