For your final paper you will choose an analytical concept explicitly discussed or implied in course readings, especially Harvest of Empire, Archive and the Repertoire, Citizens But Not Americans, and apply it to a topic of your choosing, related to the Latino experience.
Proposal (Due November 14)
Your proposal should consist of a paragraph describing your paper topic, identifying your analytical concept, and explaining how you will apply that concept to the topic. The proposal should also include a list of 3 or more scholarly reference sources. For each source, write a brief (2-3 sentences) description of the content, and another couple of sentences explaining what you expect the source to contribute to your paper. Your proposal is the critical brainstorming phase of writing. A thoroughly conceptualized proposal will make the writing phase of your paper proceed quickly.
